Two of the fiercest tragedies in English — Macbeth in the fall and Wuthering Heights in the spring. We read each one aloud, together, act by act and chapter by chapter, and follow a tragic hero down — asking the same question in every scene: how much is fate, and how much is our own hand?
It’s built as a whole year, in two terms. Here is the shape of it.
Shakespeare’s shortest, fiercest tragedy. We read it act by act, alternating a Read week with a Deep-Dive week — each opening with the Habit of Attention, a Find It · Follow It · Frame It passage, and a short writing lesson — and read the play through Machiavelli’s The Prince. The term gathers to a debate, a Follow-the-Thread essay, and a square for the class Quilt.

We read the novel chapter by chapter in the same Read / Deep-Dive rhythm, following Heathcliff and Catherine through a story where devotion and cruelty grow from one buried root — and close, again, on a Follow-the-Thread capstone.
